Technically and standard-compliant certified encoders for Ex zones - a pragmatic extension in the field. Their availability from July 2025 makes them an interesting solution for modern systems.
- Certified for Zone 2/22 – The new IXARC incremental and absolute encoders from POSITAL are now officially ATEX and IECEx compliant, as well as additionally approved for UL Class I/II/III Division 2
- Robust Design: Housing made of aluminum or stainless steel, shock-resistant up to 100 g, resistant to vibrations up to 10 g – ideal for harsh industrial environments.
- Flexible Configuration: Incremental encoders with adjustable resolution (1–16,384 pulses/rev), selectable drivers (Push-Pull or RS422), configurable via UBIFAST; Absolute models with up to 20-bit multiturn resolution and various interfaces (SSI, CANopen, EtherCAT, etc.).
⚡ Practical tip
Use the new IXARC encoders where demanding Ex environments (e.g. oil & gas, chemicals) require robust position detection. The UL approval extends the area of application to North America without additional certification costs.
⚠️ Attention with
- Observe the specification: selection of the correct design (Incremental vs Absolute) and compatibility of the interfaces.
- Keep Ex conformity certificates available: Certificates should be readily accessible for audits, documentation, and customs control.
